LSU Shreveport the Team That Keeps Winning

Standing at 54-0 and heading to Idaho the Pilot's just can't find a competitor that can take them down.

The LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball team has achieved a remarkable milestone, completing the regular season with a perfect 54–0 record.

This unprecedented accomplishment marks the longest winning streak by any four-year collegiate baseball program, surpassing previous records and setting a new standard in the NAIA.

Under the leadership of head coach Brad Neffendorf, the Pilots have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the season. Their journey to the Avista-NAIA World Series was solidified with a 9–6 victory over Mid-America Christian in the Shreveport Bracket, securing their place in the national tournament.

The team's success is attributed to a combination of strategic coaching, cohesive teamwork, and standout performances from key players. While individual statistics have been impressive, it is the collective effort and unity of the Pilots that have propelled them to this historic achievement.

With skilled players like pitcher Cobe Reeves with 80 innings pitched in and of those 103 strikeouts and Isaac Rohde pitching for 105.1 innings and 130 strikeouts.

But along with strong arms the power in the batter's box as well, Austin Gomm currently leading the team in homeruns with 11 total for the season. Along with his double-digit homers he has racked up 60 RBI and a .380 batting average.

As they prepare for the World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, scheduled from May 23 to 31, the Pilots face formidable opponents, including Grand View University in their opening game.

The tournament features a competitive field, with teams like reigning national champion Hope International and seventh-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) on the same side of the bracket.

The Pilots' historic season has garnered national attention from the middle of their season starting on March 27 when the Pilots had a complete shutout score of 37-0 within seven innings before applying the mercy rule on Texas College.

After the series ended, they still remained undefeated Early in the season I got the chance to talk to head coach Bred Neffendorf after the home opener in late January before the takeoff of a dominating season.

"You know we have 24 guys returning this season," he said. " For our level it's high-level stuff, we have to understand how to get our swings off and the consistency of this program brings these players in to make such a strong team."

Since that home opener the Pilots have seem to have found the way to get the balls right in the middle of the bat, ringing out the noise of the aluminum bats knocking the balls all the way out the park.

The performance in the upcoming World Series will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike. With a blend of talent, resilience and strategic play. LSU Shreveport stands poised to make a significant impact on the national stage.
