Hosted in Hoover, Alabama, the 16 SEC teams are gathering to start a five-round series to determine who is the best of the best, the SEC Champions. What do they get for this?

A trophy, bragging rights, and a better chance of going to Omaha, but even then, not really. Baseball, if anyone hasn't told you yet, is a game of failure. This will never provide a perfect outcome, but the team that can be in the zone more during the match will come out on top.

Back to the SEC Tournament, now I don't know what girl needs to hear this, but your future baseball husband isn't here playing in Hoover. No matter how bad you want to be a WAG (wife and girlfriend) and wear the cute outfits and go to games, he's not in the SEC.

But girls, if you do want to give it your best shot with a player or even a boy you like who's really into baseball, here's what you need to know for this week-long series that will be the determining factor of grown men's moods.

Now, the first game of this series is the Alabama Crimson Tide vs the Missouri Tigers. Everyone knows Alabama is a highly talented football school, but on the baseball side, they are a little lacking. On paper, with a 40-15 win-loss streak, their performance is either consistently strong or erratic.

However, Missouri, on the other hand, is the type of team that gives A+ effort but can't pull it together to win. This past weekend, against the Texas A&M Aggies, they swept the series, securing the first three wins of SEC play.

Next up are Oklahoma and Kentucky; these teams are rarely in the spotlight for being exceptional, but they aren't terrible. The two teams will play at 1:30 p.m., and the winner of that game will then advance to the second round and face off against Georgia on Tuesday.

Oklahoma is new to the SEC this year, and they are currently standing at 14-16, which isn't ideal, but their team isn't accustomed to SEC-level competition. In a conference that means more, the competitive edge and caliber of play are much more intense than in the past, but they will get there. However, at least they aren't Kentucky, who are 13-17, and that's all that needs to be said about them.

Next is Florida and South Carolina, which are honestly out of the limelight; they are both in the bottom 10 in the SEC. Florida, at one point, was a baseball dynasty; they had everything right in the zone, but not so much these days.

South Carolina is a team coached by former LSU coach Paul Mainieri, who honestly was never even that great of a coach to begin with. Still, since joining South Carolina, the program has made little progress, remaining average. However, coming off a series loss to LSU, a win to move on to the second round would be a significant confidence boost.

And to the final matchup of the day is Mississippi State and Texas A&M, the two most cult like teams in this tournament. One team has the cowbells from hell, and the other has the bubbles, yell leaders, and whooping at everything that happens. In reality, these large displays are meant to compensate for the lack of ability to perform well in times of need.

Mississippi State, the team from "Starkvegas", is on paper a strong team, boasting talented individual players, including Ace Reece, who was recently named the newcomer of the year. There is a lot of potential for greatness. However, once they are all assembled and faced with a slightly competitive team, the team's performance falls apart in the end. Nevertheless, they put up a valiant fight, thanks to some strong hitters and other key aspects.

Finally, the Texas Aggies are the pride of College Station with all the loud whooping and a strong, dedicated fan base. Key players like Jace Laviolette and the pitching staff should be good, but unfortunately, they are unable to string it together all the time when needed.

With this information, you can form a fairly accurate opinion on who you want to win these matchups to advance to the second round on Tuesday, taking one step closer to avoiding a disappointing outcome in the grand game of baseball.
