The Texas Longhorns secured their first SEC baseball championship in dramatic fashion. On May 15, Max Belyeu, returning from a 26-game absence due to a fractured thumb, hit a decisive three-run homer in the ninth inning to lead Texas to a 7–4 victory over Oklahoma. This win improved Texas' record to 41–10 overall and 21–7 in conference play, ensuring the outright title after Arkansas' loss to Tennessee.
Arkansas vs. Tennessee
Arkansas (42–12, 19–10 SEC) hosted Tennessee (record not specified) in a crucial series. After dropping the first game 7–10, the Razorbacks bounced back with an 8–6 win on May 16. The series finale on May 17 will determine Arkansas' final seeding, with a win potentially securing the No. 2 seed in the tournament .
LSU vs. South Carolina
No. 1 LSU faced South Carolina in a series that could impact LSU's seeding going into Hoover and the hope for being a top contender for a deep post season run. A strong performance could propel LSU into a top four seed, granting them a double-bye in the tournament.
Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky
Vanderbilt, currently tied with Auburn and Georgia for the final double-bye spot, holds the tiebreaker over both teams. A series win against Kentucky would solidify their position in the top four.
Alabama vs. Georgia
Alabama and Georgia are in a tight race, with Alabama recently securing a series victory over Georgia. This result has created a three-way tie for fourth place between Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Auburn. Alabama's performance this weekend will be crucial in determining their seeding.
Ole Miss vs. Auburn
Ole Miss is just one game behind Tennessee and Alabama, aiming to secure a one-day bye in the tournament. A series win against Auburn could elevate their seeding and provide a significant advantage in the postseason.
The 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament will feature all 16 teams for the first time, with a new format granting double-byes to the top four seeds and single byes to seeds 5–8. The tournament will be held from May 20–25 at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Hoover, Alabama.
With the regular season concluding, teams are making their final pushes to secure favorable seedings and momentum heading into the postseason.
